The 89th Annual Memorial Day Parade and Mass that honors the deceased members of the Chicago Fire Department (CFD) and Chicago Firemen’s American Legion Post #667 will be celebrated Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2024. The location will be: Church of the Holy Family, 1080 W. Roosevelt Rd., Chicago.
The ceremonies begin at 9:30am with a parade of the uniformed members of the Chicago Fire Department led by The Pipes and Drums of the CFD. The Mass follows at 10:00am.
At this service we will remember all those of our CFD family who have died since last Memorial Day especially 2 members who have made the ultimate sacrifice by dying in The Line of Duty, 8 active members of the Department, and over 125 retirees.
After the ceremonies inside the church we will gather around the flagpole at the corner of Roosevelt Road and May Street for the raising of the flag, a 21-gun salute and taps.
Mayor Brandon Johnson, Fire Commissioner Annette Nance-Holt and Aldermen have been invited and are expected to attend.
