Built with the nickels and dimes of immigrants between 1857 and 1860, the Gothic edifice challenged stereotypes about Catholics and their place in Chicago. Skerrett will pay particular attention to the “bricks and mortar” of Holy Family, sharing little-known stories of its founder, Arnold Damen, S.J. and his vision for the city’s first Jesuit parish.
